Mrs. Minnie MCGOWAN JOHNSTON, 65, widow of Frank V. JOHNSTON, died at Pitt General 
Hospital at one o’clock this morning after five days illness. Funeral arrangements 
have not been completed pending the arrival of relatives. Mrs. JOHNSTON was the 
daughter of J. K. and Betty TUCKER MCGOWAN, and was born and reared in Pitt County. 
She came to Greenville in December, 1906 after her marriage and had lived in 
Greenville since that time. Mr. JOHNSTON’S death occurred in 1932. She was a member 
of Jarvis Memorial Methodist Church and was also a member of the Greenville Woman’s 
Club, the Garden Club and the American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are three sons, 
F. V. JOHNSTON, Jr. of San Diego, Calif., and Alton R. and S. Wesley JOHNSTON, both 
of Greenville; two daughters, Mrs. E. H. GRAY of LaGrange and Margaret E. JOHNSTON 
of Tarboro and Greenville; eight grandchildren; two brothers, C. H. MCGOWAN, Sr. and 
Floyd MCGOWAN, both of Greenville; and a sister, Mrs. N. G. RAYNOR of Greenville.
