Funeral for Mrs. Jesse Haddock

Daily Reflector, Sat., Oct 28, 1950

Mrs. Martha M. (Duby) HADDOCK, 65, died at her home near Black Jack Friday night at 
6:10 o’clock, after nine months of illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 
the Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock by the Rev. 
J. C. GRIFFIN, Free Will Baptist minister of New Bern, and burial will be in the 
Mills family cemetery. They body will be carried to the church one hour prior to the 
time of services. Mrs. HADDOCK, daughter of the late Nabe and Martha Hardee MILLS, 
spent her life in the Black Jack community. She was married to Jesse HADDOCK in 1906 
and he died in 1929. She was a member of the Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church. 
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Frank WILSON, Mrs. Prince MILLS, and Mrs. Louis 
Henry MILLS, all of Black Jack, and Mrs. Charlie MILLS of the home; 9 grandchildren; 
two sisters, Mrs. Maggie ADAMS of Farmville and Mrs. Loudenia PAGE of Greenville; 
and two brothers, Ed MILLS of Galloway’s Crossroads and Mabe MILLS of Chicod School.
