We learn with regret of the death of Mr. John S. HARRIS, which occurred at his home 
in Falkland Township on Tuesday, after a long illness. Mr. HARRIS was about 55 years 
of age, and is survived by one daughter and four sons. He was truly a good man, and 
one of Pitt County's very best citizens. Among his neighbors he was known as a man 
of exceeding kindness and generosity, and was never known to turn a deaf ear to an 
appeal for charity or help. He was one who loved uprightness, and his own life was 
marked with the highest honor and integrity. His death is indeed a loss to the county.
