Mrs. J. J. OAKLEY, 87, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. L. COX, in the 
Calico Crossroads community Monday night at 9:25. She had lived in Pitt County 
all her life and was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. Surviving are 
four daughters, Mrs. F. L. COX of Calico, Mrs. A. J. COX of Greenville, Mrs. 
H. D. COX of Washington and Mrs. Lucretia COX of Washington, D.C., one son, 
Johnnie OAKLEY of the home, one sister, Mrs. Annie GODLEY of Grimesland, and 
one brother, Tom ADAMS, of Chocowinity, 28 grandchildren and 42 
great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the home of Mrs. F. L. 
COX Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. D. W. ALEXANDDER. Burial will be in the 
Oakley family cemetery.
