Mrs. Jesse P. Matthews Died

Mrs. Jesse P. Matthews, 60 years old and wife of W. B. MATTHEWS, died early last 
Sunday morning at her home in Rocky Mount following an illness of three weeks. 
Mrs. MATTHEWS was born June 13, 1886 in Pitt County near Bethel. She was the 
daughterb of the late W. G. HATHAWAY and Laura SMITH HATHAWAY. Surviving in 
addition to her husband are two sons, James Alton MATTHEWS of the home and 
W. G. MATTHEWS of Robersonville; two daughters, Mrs. Eddie BRYANT and Mrs. 
Howard HIX of Rocky Mount; three brothers, W. C. HATHAWAY of Suffolk, L. T. 
HATHAWAY of Norfolk, and M. M. HATHAWAY of Rocky Mount; four sisters, Mrs. 
Jesse WHITFIELD and Daisy HATHAWAY of Norfolk, Mrs. C. M. BOONE of Rocky 
Mount, and Mrs. G. W. WILLIAMS of Elizabeth City. The funeral services were 
held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. A. H. BUTLER of 
the Falcon Holiness church, in charge. He was assisted by Rev. J. R. COGGINS, 
pastor of the Nashville Free Will Baptist church, and the Rev. V. W. CALLAHAN, 
Rocky Mount Holiness minister. Interment was made in the Robersonville cemetery.
