James Oscar Williams Dies
The Weekly Herald, Robersonville, NC, Wed., Feb 5, 1947
James Oscar WILLIAMS died at his home in Pitt County last Friday, January 31,
at 8 p. m. Seventy–three years old Mr. WILLIAMS was only seriously ill one
hour before his death but he had been in declining health for several months.
His death was attributed to a heart attack. Son of the late Willis H. and
Sallie E. WILLIAMS, he lived at Leens and was born and spent most of his life
in Pitt County. He was married to Ludie COREY, also of Pitt County in 1906.
He was a member of the Flat Top Primitive Baptist Church and a farmer by
profession. Funeral services were held from the Flat Top Primitive Baptist
Church near Robersonville at 3 p. m. Sunday with Elders W. E. GRIMES and A. B.
AYERS conducting the last rites. Interment was made in the Robersonville
cemetery. Surviving are his wife, and a sister, Mrs. Mattie HINES of Hamilton.
