Funeral Held for G. C. Worthington

Mr. Grover Cleveland WORTHINGTON, died at his home near Winterville at 4:15 o’clock 
Saturday afternoon following two days of critical illness. Funeral services were 
conducted at the Chapel of the S. G. Wilkerson & Sons Funeral Home this afternoon 
at 3:30 o’clock by the Rev. Perry CASE, Christian minister of Wilson, and burial 
was in the Worthington family cemetery near the home. Mr. Worthington, son of the 
late Alfred T. and Sarah MCGOWAN WORTHINGTON, was born in the Winterville Community 
and spent all his life there. He was a member of Reedy Branch Free Will Baptist 
Church and was a farmer. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hattie SUTTON WORTHINGTON; 
six sons, Lloyd B., Carl and Norman WORTHINGTON, all of Winterville; Bryan 
WORTHINGTON of Greenville, Adrian WORTHINGTON of the home, and Gurman WORTHINGTON 
of the U.S. Air Force, now stationed in Illinois; a daughter, Mrs. Dan PEELE of 
Williamston; eight grandchildren; and three brothers, R. L., Heber F., and Jim 
Blaine WORTHINGTON, all of Winterville.
