George Williamson Dies near Stokes

The Weekly Herald, Robersonville, NC, Wed., April 16, 1947

George Riley WILLIAMSON died at his home near Stokes at 8 a.m. last Wednesday after 
being critically ill a week. Funeral services were conducted from the home Thursday 
at 3 p.m. by Elder A. B. AYERS and Elder B. S. COWAN, Primitive Baptist minister 
of Bear Grass. Interment was made in the Robersonville cemetery. Seventy–three 
years old, Mr. WILLIAMSON was born and reared near Bethel and spent most of his 
life in the Bethel and Stokes communities. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Amanda 
JEFFERSON WILLIAMSON; three sons, William Luther WILLIAMSON of near Stokes, 
George G. WILLIAMSON of Tarboro, and James Daniel WILLIAMSON of Pinetown; six 
daughters, Mrs. Maggie BULLOCK of Norfolk, Mrs. Hattie TERRY of Robersonville, 
Mrs. Rosa DAIL of Tarboro, Mrs. Mary EDWARDS of near Pactolus, Mrs. Annie JONES 
of Bethel, and Mrs. Josephine BUTTS of Fountain; one brother, James Alfred 
WILLIAMSON of Norfolk.
