DIED, on the evening of the 17th of March, at quarter past 10 o'clock of
apoplexy, on the steamer "Louisiana", on his passage up the Chesapeake Bay,
BRYAN GRIMES SR., of Pitt County, N. C., in the 67th year of his age.

SUDDEN DEATH OF A NORTH CAROLINIAN
--On Saturday night last, MR. GRIMMES, from Little Washington, Pitt County,
North Carolina, died from apoplexy on the Norfolk bat,m while on the way to
Baltimore. The deceased was subject to apoplexy, and kept constantly by his
side a faithful negro man, whose grief, when he discovered that his kind
master was dead, caused tears to flow from the eyes of many passengers on the
boat. The body of MR. GRIMES was on Sunday, placedf in a metallic coffin and
forwarded to his afficted family. -- Petersburg Express
The body of MR. GRIMES referred to is no doubt BRYAN GRIMES, SR. ESQ. who is
well known in this community. MR. G. was a worthy and useful citizen. He was
far-advanced in life.
